Fluctuations in cellular calcium control many aspects of cell physiology. In the liver they regulate metabolism and glucose production. My research aims to understand how these signals are generated and maintained. Then how they become dysregulated and contribute to diseases of the liver. I also investigate how calcium signals are generated in malaria parasites and the potential to target this pathway with novel antimalarials.
